Simplicity – the art of maximizing the work not done – is essential.
– From the Principles of the Agile Manifesto
I’ve used Salesforce.com for years and also helped clients set-up, structure and develop best practices with the Salesforce.com system. I’ve found it very useful for managing a sales pipeline and tracking activities. The problem I’ve had with Salesforce is you can’t customize much with the basic version, and it is just overkill for what most companies need – a simple, efficient pipeline and sales activity tracking app. As you progress with Salesforce it can also get quite expensive.
Last year I came across an alternative, Pipedrive (www.pipedrive.com), and started testing it out. I really like the modern, elegant web interface; the ability to easily customize, and the really cool out of the box dashboard. I downloaded their mobile app and have actively used. It has some good integration (API) tools with Google and Evernote, I haven’t yet tried with Outlook. Their customer support seems light, but I have been able to get useful responses over phone and email. Best of all, it is simple; it contains everything I need to manage my sales, and not much more.
Pipedrive is efficient, easy to use, and at $9 per user per month, a darn good deal.
I have now moved all my own sales activities over to this app. I’ve also converted a client over that I help with new business development. So far, all good.
If you would like more information on using Pipedrive for your sales effort, give me a shout.
P.S. I still have my Salesforce subscription, but have not used in a while and starting to get tired of the monthly subscription fee hitting my bank account!
Pipedrive provides a very visually appealing and useful dashboard view.
The pipeline view is simple and clear and you can make changes dynamically with a mouse click.
